On July 28, 2018, the last timed race of the 2018 Tour de France ended at the Basque city of Espelette, before the Champs Elysées finish. Here, in addition to the dangers confronting bees in France in general, there aren’t enough flowers to feed the bees during the summer season. It was proposed to place two flower boxes of genuine honey flowers on the podium of the Tour de France. The flowers had to be yellow, to match the event sponsors’ emblematic colors. One week before this race, France became the soccer world champion, and the flowers were blue, white and red.
